An old Germanic sign for the season of Winter, used in clog almanacs.

Although the body of this symbol resembles a Shinto Torii (a gate used to mark the entrance to a sacred place), the several small circles are a strong indicator of the winter season. Whereas the Autumn symbol showed the descent of life beneath the earth, this sign shows them completely submerged and waiting for spring's warmth to awaken them.
