Moose Crossing MUTCDC WC-14
This page is about the meaning, origin and characteristic of the symbol, emblem, seal, sign, logo or flag: Moose Crossing MUTCDC WC-14.
Moose crossing sign as appearing in the 2021 Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC). Designed by volunteer artist Chloë Chapdelaine, this graphic replaced the one appearing in the 2014 fifth edition of the Manual.
Chloë Chapdelaine, a young Canadian, who regularly passed moose crossing signs on her way to work, believed the sign could offer a more authentic and majestic portrayal of the moose. Chloë reached out to several agencies, including Alberta Transportation, with a proposal to modernize the Moose Crossing sign. Alberta Transportation handed her proposal over to the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).
Ultimately, Chloë’s proposed design was included in TAC’s sixth edition of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC), released in June following a six-year-long project.
