Flag of North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam) from 1945 to 1955.
It was designed by Nguyễn Hữu Tiến, a revolutionary against French colonization. first seen a rise ("Khoi Nam Kỳ Nghĩa") in southern Vietnam. A consequence of the failure of the uprising, Nguyễn Hữu Tiến was arrested and cut off the hands that had designed the flag.
