Connector
A connector is used to represent that the flow is continued elsewhere on the flowchart. Typically capital letters are used in the circle as labels.
Data (Input\Output)
Indicates that data is to be inputted into a process or that data is to be outputted from the process.
Decision
Indicates a decision point at which the flow can branch based on the answer to the question/condition posed in the decision box.
Off-Page Connector
A connector is used to represent that the flow is continued elsewhere in the flowchart on a different page. Typically capital letters are used in the circle as labels.
Predefined Process
Refers to a series of process steps that are defined elsewhere, such as in a subroutine definition.
Process
This represents a process, or step in the flow chart. Text is placed in the process box to explain what action is to take place.
Sequential Access Storage
Represents storage that is read and/or written sequentially, such as magnetic tape.
