This is a sign used on clothes in Ghana, Africa. It is
called Pepe kramo, meaning an evil person according to one source,
although it is difficult to imagine that anyone would be happy walking
around in clothing decorated with signs of this denotation. A
misunderstanding as to its meaning is not unlikely. There is,
however, a similarity with the modern ideogram
for
nuclear power, above. Also discernible in this ideogram is the
sign structure
,
signifying a warning or threat, and
in Group 30, used on some medieval Western
knights' coats of arms, meaning religiosity.
Semiotically analyzed this ideogram implies threat, dangerous
power, and religious fanaticism.
